Skills

Install adds three skills. Type the name in Claude Code to run one.

SkillUse it whenWhat it does
/catchupYou come back to a project or start a new chatAnswers "where did I stop?" in three short groups
/handoffYou finish for the day, switch tasks or hand work onWrites a short note for the next chat or a teammate
/cdb-scanMemory is new on an existing projectMaps the codebase into memory. See cdb-scan

/catchup

It reads your last chat, the recorded to-dos, the last handoff note and git, then replies with:

  • Done: what is finished.
  • Open: what is started but not finished.
  • Next: what to do first.

It only reads. It saves nothing and changes nothing. The same facts are available in the terminal:

Terminal
claude-db catchup

/handoff

It writes one note with a Done, Open and Next line, saves it, and prints it so you can paste it into a message or a pull request.

Handoff, Oct 6:
- Done: timers, queue, mail family.
- Open: PR #18 not merged.
- Next: ask which retries to change on the worker queue.

The note is saved with a fixed key, so a new handoff replaces the old one. There is one current handoff per project. The next chat shows it at the start, under "Last handoff", for 14 days.

A teammate sees the note when you both use the same shared database. With the default SQLite file, the printed note is the way to share it.

/cdb-scan

A fresh install has nothing to recall. /cdb-scan fills it in one pass. Run it when memory is new on an existing project, or when the project has changed enough that the stored map is stale.

/cdb-scan

Build the code graph

  • runs claude-db scan
  • every symbol, and every relationship between symbols

Write the project profile

  • five notes: stack, layout, conventions, workflows, architecture
  • stored under stable keys, so a re-run updates them in place

It is safe to repeat. The graph re-parses only changed files, and the five notes are keyed, so a second run updates them instead of adding duplicates. The notes are tagged inferred, because they are Claude's reading of the code and not a record of something that happened.

Run /handoff when you stop and /catchup when you come back. If you already have a skill with the same name, claude-db keeps yours and says so.
